If Apple indeed does give the Apple Watch 7 a bigger battery, it’s great news for users since it will just help them keep up with their daily tracking better, particularly sleep tracking.

The Apple Watch is one of the best smartwatch options for Apple users, there is no doubt about that. Despite a million things it can do, there is only one nagging issue that this wearable suffers from - the battery life is not great. Sure, it lasts you through a workday, and a little more, but you have to charge your Apple Watch every day. While most users are ok with that, there are other smartwatches in the market that can be used with the iPhone that come with better battery life than the Apple Watch, several days' worth, in fact. So if the battery is one of the main features for you when it comes to smartwatches, the Apple Watch will not top that list.

However, if reports are to be believed, it seems like Apple might be working on fixing that battery issue with the Apple Watch 7. According to a report from Economic Daily News, Apple's next smartwatch, the Apple Watch 7, might come with a smaller S7 chip. A smaller chip will free up more space in the watch for a larger battery.

The rest of the Economic Daily News report lines up with what Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said regarding the Apple Watch recently including the fact that it might come with an updated, flatter design, narrower bezels, and ultra-wideband functionality (like on Apple AirTags). Kuo mentioned in his reports that the new Apple Watch is going to slightly thicker than the Apple Watch 6 but he did not mention anything regarding the battery, Also, Kuo mentioned that Apple will be skipping on adding new health sensors on the Apple Watch 7 and might save it for the 2022 version of the Apple Watch. So, if it is a bigger watch and there are no new sensors, a bigger battery makes sense.

If Apple indeed does give the Apple Watch 7 a bigger battery, it's great news for users since it will just help them keep up with their daily tracking better, particularly sleep tracking. Apple also introduced a new walking steadiness feature that is going to roll out with the new watchOS 7, so users will want to wear their Apple Watches around more. Also, a bigger battery will help Apple catch up to the likes of Garmin and Fitbit, both of whom offer much better battery lives on their wearables. The Apple Watch 7 is scheduled to launch this fall.
