Apple could launch an AR-VR headset by next year, as per reports in Bloomberg. The report adds that an augmented reality and virtual reality headset might be Apple's first step towards more applications using AR glasses.

Apple has been a leader in development and research related to AR and VR tech for years now and CEO Tim Cook has stated that augmented reality was “promising”.

The AR-VR Apple headset is expected to be quite expensive and should be launched by 2022. It's going to compete with the likes of Sony's PlayStation VR and Facebook's Oculus.

The VR-AR headset is going to be a culmination of active research and development by Apple. The company has been deploying components of AR and VR devices and software. For example the LiDAR sensor that was first put on the iPad Pro and then was added to the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

However, the VR-AR headset may come with limited AR capability as research in this area is still ongoing.

The headset, like those that currently exist, will be battery powered but will not require a console and is going to be more expensive than all other AR-VR headsets in the market.

The Bloomberg report suggests that there could be single sales of the device daily across retail outlets
