Carl Pei’s Nothing announces Concept 1, it’s first TWS earbuds; arrives this summer
Pei confirms the first product will arrive this summer.
Nothing, the company that has been grabbing headlines since past few weeks, has finally dropped the first teaser of it's upcoming product - Concept 1. If you recall, Nothing's founder, Carl Pei, did confirm recently that it's first product will be TWS earbuds, and Concept 1 is just that. From the looks of it, the earbuds will have a ‘transparent' design and a small stem as well. One can see some of the internals and the company branding on the stem, inside the transparent body.
The firm has not yet confirmed anything else about the product, including how it will work, what all features are there and how it will be priced. There's also no confirmation on the launch time frame as well. However, since the design is out, indicating that the product is ready to go, we can expect more details dropping in soon. Pei has mentioned that the first products will arrive this summer.
Pei says that Concept 1 will be lightweight, minimal and futuristic in design. “We distil technology to the essentials, embracing raw tech, where every gram and every byte live with purpose. We peel off everything superficial, like unnecessary branding on the surface, to focus solely on what adds true value to the user experience,” said Pei.
Talking more about the design principles, Pei added that “We want every product interaction, from picking it up to turning it on, to be intuitive, obvious, and natural.” As for Concept 1, Pei says that it's look is inspired by “a grandmother's tobacco pipe”.
It is worth mentioning that Pei recently announced Teenage Engineering as the founding partner of Nothing. For those unaware, Teenage Engineering is a Stockholm-based company better known for their industrial design. It is spearheaded by Jesper Kouthoofd, who is also the Creative Lead behind Nothing's product design.
