Indian truly wireless stereo (TWS) market grew by a whopping 641% year-on-year in the final quarter of 2020. According to a report by research firm Counterpoint, the TWS earbuds shipment touched the 10 million mark in the final quarter of the past year.

The report says that the top spot in the Indian TWS earbuds market was captured by Boat. The company captured 30% of the total market share. It was followed by OnePlus, Realme, Xiaomi and pTron on the second, third, fourth and fifth spots with 12%, 10%, 7% and 7% market share.

As far as the top-selling models are concerned, the Counterpoint report says that OnePlus Buds Z became the top-selling model in the final quarter of the year owing to the company offering pre-order price. Realme's Buds Q became the second best selling TWS earbuds model in Q4 2020. “Its Buds Q model continued to have a huge demand and rose to the second spot in the top five list for Q4 2020. Going forward, we see multiple affordable launches from Realme as it aims to be a leading brand in the CIOT category in 2021,” Counterpoint wrote in its report.

Xiaomi with its Redmi Buds 2C grabbed the third spot. The report said that good build quality, DSP ENC and stylish design at an affordable price are some of the features that immediately caught consumers' attention.

The fourth and fifth spots were grabbed by Boat's Airdopes 131 and Airdopes 402 TWS earbuds. “This major boost was driven by two of its models, the Airdopes 131 and Airdopes 402, which managed to grab spots in the top five best-selling models' list with an equal share of 4%. The models were not only available at a strong discounted price of below INR 2,000 during the festive season but also offered better features like USB Type-C charging, voice assistant functionality and instant pairing,” the report said.

Interesting, neither Samsung nor Apple made it to the list. Both of these companies offer premium quality earbuds.
