Dizo Watch S Review: Beauty with negligible flaws!
Priced at Rs. 2,499, the Dizo Watch S comes with more than 110 sports modes, monitors heart rate, SpO2, sleep timing, and more. But how worth it is for the price it demands? Read the full review to know.
What would you prefer buying? A smartwatch with a large display having almost all the features of a smart band, OR would you rather stick to the latter? Well, it all depends on the level of accuracy in monitoring or tracking your health! Challenging the smartwatches under Rs. 3000 segment and smart bands with small screen, Dizo has recently launched Dizo Watch S in the Indian market. Though there are smart bands with bigger screens as well, they all will cost you more than Rs. 3000. Available at a much more affordable rate of Rs. 2,499, Dizo Watch S comes with a large screen, 150+ watch faces, long battery life, 110+ sports modes, and much more.
The company has tried to pack almost all the features it can under budget. But cost-cutting also leads to compromising certain aspects or features. So, is Dizo Watch S worth consideration for the price it is being offered? Well to find this out, I have been using the Dizo Watch S for almost 2 weeks now, and here is what I have to say. Read the full review to know.
Dizo Watch S Design and Display
Dizo Watch S gets a classy, premium look with a big rectangular curved dial having a metal frame and detachable 20mm silicone straps. The straps come in three quirky and trendy color options- Silver Blue, Golden Pink, and Classic Black. I have been using the Pink one and it looks attractive and decent at the same time. However, the watch weighs 52.5 grams and hence feels slightly heavy on the wrist making it sometimes a bit uncomfortable to wear for an entire day. The right side of the dial has a main button that helps in navigating across the UI and can also be used to switch the watch on or off. While on the bottom, the Dizo Watch S sports sensors and magnetic charging pins.
Coming to the display, the Dizo Watch S features a 1.57-inch screen with 550 nits high brightness. The watch allows you to adjust the brightness according to your convenience. Under sunlight, I used the watch with 80 percent brightness while at night it reduced it to 20-40 percent. The watch has thick bezels, however, I did not face any issues due to this and was able to scroll the screen with ease. The touch screen is quick in response and as the size of the screen is big I did not struggle to read the texts displayed on it. The watch has also got an IP68 water resistance rating.
Dizo Watch S Features
What are your expectations from a smartwatch? From health and fitness tracking features to getting notified for your calls and other notifications; from controlling music to weather forecaster, phone camera controller, alarm, personalizing the display, and much more- the Dizo Watch S has it all. But the point is, how accurately do all these features function?
Well starting from the basics, the "raise to wake" feature works smoothly. You will be able to silence and reject the calls with the help of your watch, you can check the notification but will not be able to reply to it, hence you will have to take out your phone when you need to answer a call or reply to a message. Also, you will get notification alerts with the help of vibration as there is no speaker on the watch. Even the music control, camera control, alarm, stopwatch, and Weather feature among others worked perfectly fine.
Talking about the software experience and the Dizo App, it is very user-friendly and easy to understand and operate. You can easily find out what you are looking for. Also, the watch easily gets connected to the phone and auto-syncs the data on the phone with the help of the app. It can be known that the smartwatch has Bluetooth v5.0 connectivity and can be synced easily with smartphones having Android 5.0 and iOS 9.0 and above.
The Dizo App allows you to control the features of the watch more extensively, personalize the watch faces, and even show elaborated data related to your health and fitness. You will also keep on getting drinking water and sedentary reminders if you have switched it on.
Dizo Watch S Health and Fitness Modes
You will get a plethora of health and fitness or sports modes to choose from when it comes to Dizo Watch S. The smartwatch supports more than 110 sports modes including running, walking, cycling, gymnastics, elliptical, yoga, mountaineering, cricket, hockey, football, horse riding, among others. Further, it also features a heart rate monitor, SpO2, calories burnt, sleep count, etc.
Now coming to the most important aspect-accuracy- though the watch almost accurately monitored the heart rate and oxygen level compared to the health monitoring equipment, there was inaccuracy in step tracking. The watch does not count steps with only the hand movements but it did calculate some extra steps while walking. Even the sleep monitoring feature showed inaccuracy in the calculation. What I observed during my usage of the watch is that it notes the time at which I sleep accurately, but fails to note the exact time I wake up. Until and unless I get up from the bed and walk a bit, the awake time is not correctly noted. Dizo needs to do something about this!
Also, the watch did not record the daytime naps. Coming to the sports mode, I tested only the walking and running mode, and yes, the number tracked was more than I actually walked or ran. The watch also tracks the menstrual cycle for female users.
Dizo Watch S Battery
The battery life provided by the watch is impressive. The company claims that the watch can last up to 10 days in regular usage, and to my surprise, the claim did turn out to be almost right. During my 2 weeks of normal usage, I have charged the watch only once. The watch takes around an hour and a half to get fully charged.
Verdict
The Dizo Watch S seems to be a considerable option under Rs. 3,000 for people who want to get the experience of using a smartwatch. From elegant design, ease in connecting with the phone and the app, getting calls and notifications, and more than 110 sports modes, to providing a long battery life, the Dizo Watch S has it all. Though it did struggle in monitoring accurate steps and sleep timing, the tracking of heart rate and SpO2 is almost the same as what the health monitoring equipment says.
Even the app interface is clean and easy to use. With the price range at which the smartwatch is being offered, I guess it is a fair deal. Even the Realme TechLife Watch S100 which is priced at Rs. 2,499 fails to accurately track the steps and sleep timing. Hence, go for this one, we highly recommend it for the fashionistas.
