Asus VivoBook 13 Slate is an iPad Pro alternative with Windows 11
The Asus VivoBook 13 Slate features a 1080p OLE display and runs Windows 11 as its operating system. Here are all the details.
Nothing beats the Apple iPad Pro for its versatility and every once in a while, some rival brand tries to take on it with interesting concepts. Take a look at the Asus VivoBook 13 Slate that was announced hours ago. At $599, it is more affordable than the iPad Pro and Asus has left no stone unturned to give it the best opportunity to shine. And, it runs on Windows 11!
The Asus VivoBook 13 Slate is currently available in the US but more markets are expected to get it soon. The convertible device is based on a Windows system with all the benefits of a tablet. Asus is yet to reveal whether it plans to bring this to India in the future.
Asus VivoBook 13 Slate features and specs
The highlight of the VivoBook 13 Slate is its 13.3-inch display. This is a Full HD OLED display with an aspect ratio of 16:9 and a touch sampling rate of 266Hz. Asus says that this display is PANTONE colours validated and also supports Dolby Vision. It runs on Windows 11 out of the box and supports the Asus Pen 2.0 with 4,096 pressure levels.
The VivoBook 13 Slate has a detachable keyboard deck that houses its own trackpad. It attaches magnetically to the Slate. The tablet is powered by an Intel Pentium Silver N6000 processor. This is paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of NVMe SSD onboard storage. There's a lower end variant too that's available with 4GB RAM and 64GB eMMC storage. As part of I/O ports, you get two USB-C 3.2 ports and a micro SD card reader. There's also a fingerprint sensor for biometric verification via Windows Hello.
Asus is using a 50WHr battery that comes with support for 65W fast charging. There are cameras too; a 13MP camera at the back and a 5MP single camera at the front.
Microsoft already sells a similar device in India and abroad, known as the Surface Go that costs much less and can also be ordered with a detachable keyboard. However, the ZenBook 13 Slate has an OLED display, which is a rarity in the world of Windows 11. The 2021 iPad Pro only offers its miniLED display tech on the larger 12.9-inch model.
