Microsoft set to launch Windows 11 SE, cheaper Surface Laptop SE for students
- Windows 11 SE is likely coming and along with it, Microsoft is expected to launch the low-cost Surface Laptop SE for students and entry-level buyers.
Tech Giant Microsoft is hosting an online event November 9 named ‘Reimagined', which is expected to announce education-related updates for Windows 11. There is not much information about the event but the company confirmed that the event will begin at 9:00 AM PST, which will be around 10:30 PM in India. "Join us for #MicrosoftReimagine, a forward-thinking digital event coming up on 11/9. Together with changemakers & industry leaders, we'll address gaps widened by the pandemic, share best practices to support inclusive learning, & so much more," Microsoft's event introduction reads.
Launch of Microsoft Surface Laptop SE expected
Based on the theme of the event, Microsoft is expected to launch a low-cost Surface Laptop SE, targeting students and entry segment buyers. Earlier, in the year, Microsoft had launched the Surface Go laptop. The new Surface Laptop SE is expected to be the next version of the same series, but designed for low-cost devices to compete with Google Chromebooks.
According to Windows Central, the new Surface Laptop SE will feature an 11.6-inch (1366 x 768) display, Intel's N4120 Celeron processor, and up to 8GB of RAM. With a single USB-A and USB-C port, this budget laptop is designed for K-12 kids and is as low-cost as feasible. Rumours suggest that the new laptop could cost less than $400 (around ₹29,670), Indian Express said. The expected new low-cost laptop of the software giant will be in direct competition with Chromebooks.
Windows 1 SE launch
In addition to Surface laptop SE, Microsoft is also expected to launch a new version of Windows 11, especially for the education market, which could be named as Windows 1 SE.
