Samsung launches Smart Monitor with support for TV streaming apps, AirPlay 2
Samsung’s new smart monitor runs on Tizen operating system. The device comes with wireless connectivity and remote PC capabilities.
Samsung on Monday announced the global availability of a new smart monitor. The device is available in two versions – M7 with Ultra High Definition (UHD) resolution in 32-inch size and M5 with full HD resolution in 32-inch and 27-inch sizes. Samsung Smart Monitor will be available in the US starting today. It is also available in China and Canada. The company plans to roll out the device in more markets starting the end of November.
Samsung Smart Monitor runs on the Tizen operating system. The Wi-Fi-enabled monitor also allows you to stream content from OTT apps such as YouTube, Netflix, Apple TV, and more, without the need for external hardware. The display also supports HDR 10. It also supports Apple’s AirPlay 2.
The Smart Monitor features an Adaptive Picture for optimising picture quality for different viewing environments. The technology allows the device to automatically adjust brightness and colour temperature.
“This ensures the most comfortable viewing experience in any environment, reducing eye strain even after extended use. The monitor also features a special eye-saver mode to reduce blue light,” said Samsung in a post.
For productivity-focused users, Samsung Smart Monitor comes with DeX support allowing you to use the monitor as your desktop. For home and office learning, it supports Microsoft 365 applications without needing a PC connection. It comes with USB Type-C, multiple USB ports as well as Bluetooth 4.2 for connectivity.
Samsung is also bundling a remote control for easier access to content. The remote comes with streaming service hotkeys. Bixby integration allows users to control the device through voice commands.
The M7 model comes with a 16:9 flat display with a 178-degree viewing angle. It supports 65W fast charging. The M5 model also has a 16:9 aspect ratio and 178-degree viewing angle. Both versions support HDR 10.
