Be that as it may, the latest news coming about Wndows 11 is that it may be out to limit your choice considerably. In fact, it may limit your freedom to choose quite a lot. It has been revealed that Windows 11 default internet browser will be Microsoft Edge. What is more, Microsoft will give you just one chance at the time of downloading Windows 11 to pick the browser you want. But, in case you miss out on indicating your choice, you will face an uphill task to change to an Internet browser that you love or have used for years. Yes, you may be stuck with Microsoft Edge and not be able to use Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or for that matter, Opera. Also read: Looking for a smartphone? Check Mobile Finder here. So, in case you do neglect to pick the browser in the general confusion and excitement of downloading the new Windows 11 OS on your computer, you will be stuck in a bad situation that will turn worse when you start looking to get rid of Microsoft Edge and replace it with the one of your choice. The reason why it will be extremely tough, we are not saying impossible, to change from Microsoft Edge is because the process to change browsers has been made so convoluted, that it would take a virtual techie to go through it successfully. It need not have been so. Windows 11 has this system specifically designed for it alone. In fact, on Windows 10, you can change your browser with no trouble at all. It is very simple and brief. What to watch out for while completing your Windows 11 download: The process is that when you install Windows 11 for the first time, you will be asked to set your default browser. This you can do by tapping on 'always use this app'. However, if you miss this in the confusion, you will not be prompted again. The die is cast and Microsoft Edge is your default browser. How to change Windows 11 default browser from Microsoft Edge to another The Verge says, "Microsoft has changed the way default apps are assigned in Windows 11, which means you now have to set defaults by file or link type instead of a single switch. In the case of Chrome, that means changing the default file type for HTM, HTML, PDF, SHTML, SVG, WEBP, XHT, XHTML, FTP, HTTP, and HTTPS." The process is so confusing that most people will likely give up and stick with Microsoft Edge. Which is what Microsoft wants in order to go back to the days when its Internet Explorer ruled the Net.
