Asus could launch Zenfone 8 as Asus 8Z in India
Asus’ latest smartphone series, Zenfone 8, is coming to India soon. Here’s everything you need to know.
Asus recently launched Zenfone 8 series. The company is expected to soon roll out the smartphone series in more markets, including India. According to a new report, Asus will launch the Zenfone 8 as Asus 8Z.
It may be recalled that Asus is not allowed to use the Zenfone moniker in India after a court ruling in 2019. Asus had launched the Zenfone 6 series as Asus 6Z.
Asus had earlier planned to launch the smartphone series in India in mid-May. The company, however, pushed the official launch to a later date due to the surge in Covid-19 cases. Asus said it would soon share a revised timeline for the device launches.
That said, Asus's new flagship smartphone series features Zenfone 8 and Zenfone 8 Flip. The vanilla model comes with a 5.9-inch Samsung AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR 10 and HDR10+ certification, and Gorilla Glass Victus screen protection.
The smartphone comes with a dual-camera setup at the rear with a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 primary sensor and a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 ultra-wide-angle lens. For selfies, there's a 12-megapixel front camera.
It runs Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 888 processor coupled with Adreno 660 GPU. On the software front, Zenfone 8 offers Android 11 out-of-the-box. The smartphone comes in four RAM options of 6GB, 8GB, 12GB and 16GB, while storage options are 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. Asus Zenfone 8 is equipped with 5G, Wi-Fi 6/6E, NFC, Bluetooth 5.2, and comes with IP68 certification.
Asus Zenfone 8 will go on sale for a starting price of Euro 670 ( ₹59,600 approx) for the base model. The smartphone comes in four colour options of Obsidian Black, Horizon Silver, and Moonlight White.
