Asus ROG Phone 3 vs competition: Here’s how it fares

The Asus ROG Phone 3 comes at a starting price of 49,999 in India and it will go on sale in the country via Flipkart starting August 6.

Asus on Wednesday launched its next generation flagship device, the ROG Phone 3. The phone, that succeeds the ROG Phone 2, is available in three variants. It comes at a starting price of 49,999 in India. It will go on sale in India via Flipkart starting August 6.

The newly launched ROG Phone 3 competes with the Samsung Galaxy S20+, the Xiaomi Mi 10 and the Oppo Find X2 Pro, all of which are powered by Qualcomm's ultra powerful Snapdragon 865 chipset.

So, here's how the Asus ROG Phone 3 fares against the competition:

Design and Display

The newly launched ROG Phone 3 is radically different from the competition in terms of the design. The ROG Phone 3 has bezels on top and bottom. The Galaxy S20+, Mi 10 and the Find X2, on the other hand, come with a punch hole display that houses the phones' front camera. Of these, the front camera of the Galaxy S20+ has the front camera placed in the middle of the top section of the screen, while in case of the Mi 10 and the Find X2, it's stacked towards the left side.

Talking about the display, the ROG Phone 3 comes with a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2340x1080 pixels. The Galaxy S20, on the other hand, comes with a 6.5-inch display with a resolution of 3200x1440 pixels. Mi 10 sports a 6.67-inch display with a 1080 x 2340p resolution, while Find X2 comes with a 6.7-inch display with a resolution of 3168x1440 pixels.

Performance

The Asus ROG Phone 3 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset that is coupled with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage space. On the other hand, both Samsung Galaxy S20+ and the Xiaomi Mi 10 come with the Snapdragon 865. While Galaxy S20 comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space, Mi 10 comes with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage space. Find X2, just like the ROG Phone 3 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset that is coupled with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage space.

On the battery front, the ROG Phone 3 comes with a massive 6,000mAh battery with support for 30W quick charge 3. Galaxy S20+, Mi 10 and Find X2 Pro, on the other hand, come with 4,500mAh battery, 4,780mAh battery and 4,260mAh battery respectively.

Camera

Coming to the cameras, the ROG Phone 3 comes with a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 64MP primary lens with Sony IMX 686 sensor, a 13MP ultra wide angle sensor and a 5MP macro sensor. On the front, it has a 24MP selfie camera.

The Galaxy S20, on the other hand, has a quad rear camera setup consisting of 12MP + 12MP + 64MP + VGA sensors, and a 10MP selfie camera. Mi 10, just like Galaxy S20+ comes with a quad rear camera setup consisting of a 108MP primary sensor, a 13MP ultra wide angle sensor, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro sensor. On the front it has a 20MP selfie camera.

The Oppo Find X2 Pro, just like ROG Phone 3, has a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 48MP wide angle sensor, a 48MP ultra wide angle sensor and a 13MP telephoto lens. On the front, it has a 32MP selfie camera.

Price

Coming to the price, the ROG Phone 3 is available in two variants. The 8GB + 128GB variant costs 49,999 and the 12GB + 256GB variant costs 57,999.

The Samsung Galaxy S20+ costs 87,999. The Xiaomi Mi 10 is available in two variants. While the 8GB + 128GB variant costs 49,999, the 8GB + 256GB variant costs 54,999. The Oppo Find X2 Pro hasn't been launched in India.
