Asus Zenfone 8 series to launch today: How to watch livestream, what to expect

Asus is going to launch the Zenfone 8 series globally today. It is expected to launch at least three phones from this series.

The Asus Zenfone 8 series will make its debut later today. The new smartphone series from Asus is expected to feature up to three phones - Zenfone 8, Zenfone 8 mini, and Zenfone 8 Flip. Asus hasn't revealed anything about its upcoming phones but we do have some idea through multiple leaks and rumours.

The Asus Zenfone 8 series launch will be a global one, and it will take place virtually at 10:30 pm IST. There's a dedicated page for the Zenfone 8 launch with a countdown timer for the event. Asus will however not launch the Zenfone 8 series or other upcoming products in India due to Covid-19. The company will share a revised launch timeline later.

The Zenfone 8 series will succeed last year's Zenfone 7 smartphones. Based on leaks and rumours so far, Zenfone 8 mini will feature a 5.9-inch full HD+ Samsung E4 AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will also have Gorilla Glass Victus protection on top, and an under-display fingerprint sensor. The smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, and it will be paired with up to 16GB of RAM.

The smartphone is also said to come with three rear cameras featuring a 64-megapixel primary sensor which will be a Sony IMX686 sensor, a 12-megapixel wide angle lens and a macro sensor. For selfies, the smartphone will house a 12-megapixel front camera. Asus Zenfone 8 mini is said to offer 256GB of internal storage, and also feature UFS 3.1 storage. The smartphone will pack a 4,000mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging.

As for the Asus Zenfone 8 Flip, this phone is expected to feature a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The smartphone will be powered by the Quacomm Snapdragon 888 processor paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It will also pack a 5,000mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging. The triple flip cameras will feature a 64-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 12-megapixel macro sensor.
