Google Pixel 6a has one serious issue that Google needs to address immediately! The Pixel 6a is the latest addition to the Google smartphone lineup and also the freshest addition to the Pixel lineup in India. Being the sole offering in India, it has a lot of expectations riding on its shoulders, especially considering that it has to go up against the Apple iPhone SE 3 and the Samsung Galaxy A73. However, an early bug related to its fingerprint scanner makes the Pixel 6a not the safest choice for consumers.

In a video shared by two YouTube content creators, the Pixel 6a's fingerprint scanner has been seen to not work as expected. The Pixel 6a in both of these videos is seen to unlock the phone even with unregistered fingerprint sensors. The video from Beebom even goes to show that two of their team members were able to unlock the phone, even though they hadn't registered their fingerprints. Google is yet to comment on the issue at the moment.

The same issue was replicated on the Pixel 6a unit reviewed by the GeekyRanjit YouTube channel. Ranjit in his video shows how he is able to unlock the phone with his other thumb that hasn't been registered on the phone.

Google is yet to comment on the issue and is yet to issue a fix with any kind of software update. Hence, if you are getting a Google Pixel 6a, you will need to watch out for this security lapse. It is advisable that Pixel 6a owners need to avoid using the fingerprint sensor until the issue gets resolved. Other than the fingerprint sensor, the Pixel 6a just like other Android smartphones lets you have password, passcode and pattern based verification systems.

At the moment, the Google Pixel 6a is available in India at a price of Rs. 43,999 for the sole variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. You get the Google Tensor chip from the flagship Pixel 6 Pro that promises great performance, a dual 12MP + 12MP rear camera setup along with an 8MP front camera, and a 4500 mAh battery with 18W fast charging.
