HMD Global has announced the Android 11 roadmap for its Nokia smartphones. The Android 11 rollout will begin in Q4 2020, and it will start with the Nokia 8.3 5G.

Nokia smartphones are usually among the first to receive the latest Android versions. But this time HMD Global wasn't among the first OEMs to roll out the Android 11 update. It has now announced the first batch of Nokia smartphones that will receive the new Android 11. Along with Nokia 8.3 5G, Android 11 will also roll out to Nokia 5.3, Nokia 2.2 and Nokia 8.1 in the first phase.

In Q1 2021, Nokia 1.3, Nokia 4.2, Nokia 2.4, Nokia 2.3, and Nokia 3.4 are scheduled to receive the Android 11 update. The third phase has Nokia 3.2, Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2 which will receive the Android 11 update between Q1 and Q2. Nokia 1 Plus and Nokia 9 Pureview will be the last to get the update, and that's in Q2, 2021.

HMD Global has also completed the Android 10 rollout with the Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1 being the last phones to receive the update. The company is also marking its 1,000th software update in a span of three years. According to data from Counterpoint Research, 94% of Nokia smartphones are updated to the latest Android version within a year of its release.

Nokia smartphones run on Google's Android One programme. In addition to getting the near-stock Android experience, Nokia phones are also guaranteed at least two years of Android upgrades and timely security updates.
