Huawei Mate 40E 5G launched along with new variant of Mate 40 RS Porsche Design

The Huawei Mate 40E 5G has a 6.5-inch FHD+ screen with 90Hz refresh rate and curved OLED panel.

Huawei made a minor upgrade in its Mate 40 flagship smartphone series today by launching the Mate 40E 5G along with a new variant of Mate 40 RS Porsche Design. The Mte 40E comes as a fifth model in the series after Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro+ and Mate 40 RS Porsche Design. It comes in three colours - Secret Silver,Glaze White and Bright Black and will go on sale in China starting March 18. The 8GB+128GB variant is priced at CNY4,599 (roughly ₹51,500) and the 8GB+256GB model costs CNY5,099 (roughly ₹57,000).

The Huawei Mate 40E 5G has a 6.5-inch FHD+ screen with 90Hz refresh rate and curved OLED panel. It also has a 240Hz touch sampling rate. There is a punch hole at the top left corner of the screen for a single front-facing 13-megapixel camera. You also get an in-display fingerprint sensor.

At the back, it sports the iconic circular setup as seen in other Mate 40 series handsets. The setup comprises a 64-megapixel primary sensor, 8-megapixel telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom and a 16-megapixel ultrawide sensor, which also lets you capture macro shots. There's also a laser autofocus sensor onboard. The lenses come from LEICA, as one can see from the branding at the centre of the camera module.

The device is powered by Kirin 990E SoC and runs Android 10-based EMUI 11. There is also a 4,200mAh battery that supports up to 40W fast charging speed and reverse charging as well. Some additional features include 5G support, 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC, Wifi 6+, dual-band GPS and stereo speakers.

In addition, the company launched a new variant of Mate 40 RS Porsche Design with 8GB+256GB RAM and storage. It is priced at CNY10,999 (roughly ₹1.2 lakhs) and will be available in China on the same day as Mate 40E.
