Oppo updates its Reno series smartphones faster than any other brand and despite the Reno 8 series only a few months old, we are now talking about the Reno 9 series. Just a day ago, we got to see a wild glimpse at the Reno 9 and now, its entire specifications sheet is out. And at first glance, it seems like a weird combination for the Reno 9 expected to debut later this year.

Coming from popular tipster Digital Chat Station, it is said that the Oppo Reno 9 will use most of the parts from its predecessors. For starters, the main camera on the back will be a 64MP Omnivision sensor that was originally used in the Oppo Reno 7 5G. The front camera will be a 32MP Sony IMX709 sensor borrowed from the Reno 8 series devices. Hence, the camera performance is expected to be good enough on these devices.

Additionally, the phone will also fall back on a 65W wired charging solution instead of 80W solution from the Reno 8 series. However, there's supposed to be universal compatibility with the new model for faster charging via other chargers. The battery capacity will remain at 4500mAh capacity.

Not sure which
mobile to buy?

The display itself will get an upgrade. It will be a 6.7-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, which is an upgrade from the 90Hz panel we have seen on the previous models. The phone will also get an under-display fingerprint sensor for biometric verification.

Oppo is also said to ditch the MediaTek chipsets in favour of the older Snapdragon 778G chip, which was the choice of phone makers back in 2021. The Snapdragon 778G is not the most powerful chipset available to phone makers in the midrange segment yet but it is still a solid performer if optimised nicely. We have seen it do wonders on the Nothing Phone (1), which was optimised well for the chipset.

At the moment, Oppo is selling the Reno 8 and Reno 8 Pro in India as its flagship smartphones for the market.
