Samsung launches Galaxy A52, Galaxy A52 5G, Galaxy A72 smartphones

Samsung today hosted its second Galaxy Unpacked event of the year. At the event that was held virtually owing to the pandemic, Samsung launched three new Galaxy A-series smartphones. The list includes the Samsung Galaxy A52, the Galaxy A52 5G and the Galaxy A72 smartphones.

These newly launched phones essentially focus on the camera, display and the Galaxy ecosystem. They offer a quad-camera setup with a 64MP primary shooter, higher screen refresh rates (120Hz for Galaxy A52 5G and 90Hz for Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A52), increased brightness of 800 nits, and support for Galaxy Buds, Galaxy SmartTag and Buds Together among other things. Additionally, all of these phones come with IP67 dust and water-resistant coating and they run on Android 11.

Apart from this, Samsung's new Galaxy A-series smartphones also focus on sustainability. The company says that its newly launched phones use pulp mold and paper to minimize unused space and material used for packaging.

Price and availability

The new Galaxy A series smartphones will be available in four colour variants -- Awesome Violet, Awesome Blue, Awesome Black, and Awesome White. While the Samsung Galaxy A52 starts at 349 Euros ( 30,169 approx.), the Galaxy A52 5G starts at 429 Euros ( 37,085 approx.) and the Galaxy A72 starts at 449 Euros ( 38,814 approx.).

There is no word on India pricing or availability yet.

Samsung Galaxy A52 specs

The Samsung Galaxy A52 comes with a 6.5-inch full HD+ super AMOLED display with Infinity-O cutout. It comes with a 90Hz screen refresh rate and a resolution of 1080x2400 pixels. It is powered by an unnamed octa-core processor. It is available in 4GB, 6GB and 8GB RAM variants that is coupled with up to 256GB of storage space.

On the camera front, it has a quad-rear camera setup consisting of a 64MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, a 5MP macro sensor and a 5MP depth sensor. On the front, it has a 32MP selfie camera. It comes with a 4,500mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging technology. It runs on Android 11.

The Samsung Galaxy A52 5G also comes with a 6.5-inch full HD+ super AMOLED display with Infinity-O cutout. But it comes with a display that offers a screen refresh rate of 120Hz. It is powered by an unnamed octa-core processor that is coupled with up to 256GB of storage space. It is available in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants.

It features a camera setup and a battery that is similar to the Galaxy A52 smartphone. The only difference is that while the Galaxy A52 features support for LTE connectivity, the Galaxy A52 5G features support for 5G connectivity.

Lastly, the Samsung Galaxy A72 comes with a 6.7-inch full HD+ super AMOLED display with an Infinity-O cutout. It comes with a 90Hz screen refresh rate and a resolution of 1080x2400 pixels. It is powered by an unnamed octa-core processor that is coupled with up to 256GB of storage space. It is available in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants.

On the camera front, Galaxy A72 too features a quad-rear camera setup. Its rear camera setup consists of a 64MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, a 5MP macro sensor and an 8MP telephoto lens. On the front, it has a 32MP selfie camera. It comes with a 5,000mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging technology.
