If there's one thing that Google Pixel smartphones are known for, it is for the impressive camera performance and the AI algorithm that drives it. Since years, Google Pixel camera division's head Marc Levoy has been taking care of computational photography and how to improve it each year. But this might not be the case anymore since Levoy has left the company, as per The Information. Could this mean that the upcoming Pixel 4A might be his last project? We can't be sure about that. But nonetheless, it doesn't seem like a good sign for the future of Pixel photography.

Levoy made a quite exit from the firm in March this year and his official LinkedIn page confirms it. If you are using a Pixel smartphone camera and features like HDR+, Portrait Mode, Super Res Zoom and the ‘magical' Night Sight, all of these have been introduced by Levoy in Pixel devices.

The report adds that Levoy is not the only one from Google's top brass to make an exit. His departure follows that of Pixel general manager Mario Queiroz, who left within a year of becoming the GM.

With the Pixel 4a rumours brewing up on the web and the launch dates being said to be coming closer, it might be really important for Google to push its sluggish sales of Pixel handsets and maybe improve the image of Pixel handsets, which are often found with bugs and get mixed reviews. Google already faced some flak late last year when it decided to not launch its Pixel 4 flagship smartphones in India and other countries due to the Soli Radar chip use prevention.
