Want to try a small flagship iPhone? The iPhone 13 mini might be your last chance
- A new rumour has it that there won’t be any iPhone 14 mini. If you are willing to try out a compact flagship smartphone, the iPhone 13 mini might be your last bet.
Apple introduced smaller and more compact iPhones and called them ‘iPhone mini’ with the iPhone 12 lineup. The first flagship ‘mini’ iPhone was the iPhone 12 mini last year. The company followed the trend and unveiled an iPhone 13 mini this year. And it features better cameras, battery life as compared to the previous generation. However, if sales numbers are anything to go by, the iPhone 12 mini didn’t do very well.
Naturally, the iPhone 13 mini isn’t expected to sell as much as the regular iPhone 13 either. This is why Apple might be ending the iPhone ‘mini’ series with the iPhone 13 mini. A new rumour has it that there won’t be any iPhone 14 mini. If you are willing to try out a compact flagship smartphone, the iPhone 13 mini might be your last bet.
According to tipster Jon Prosser, Apple will not launch an iPhone 14 mini next year. He claims that the iPhone 13 mini will be the last ‘mini’ iPhone. “So if you've been thinking about trying the mini, the 13 mini is your last chance,” he said in the tweet. When asked about how confident he is considering the fact that Apple introduced the mini form-factor in 2020, Prosser said that he was very sure about the development.
To recall, analyst Ming Chi Kuo had also speculated that the 2022 iPhone family won’t include a mini iPhone. The iPhone 14 series is tipped to feature four models but miss out on the mini. If rumours are to be believed, the iPhone 14 series could include the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. It looks like Apple is focused on streamlining the iPhone lineup and just differentiate them on the basis of regular iPhone and Pro iPhone. It seems to be prepping to offer both series in two sizes of 6.1- and 6.7-inch.
By contrast, the iPhone 13 mini - like the iPhone 12 mini - features a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDA display. It packs a smaller battery when compared to the regular iPhone 13. The rest of the features are similar on both the devices -- including the cameras.
