Apple WWDC 2020: iOS 14, ARM Macs, and other things set for unveiling
Apple WWDC 2020: A summary of top announcements expected from the company’s annual developer conference.
Apple has decided to go ahead with its annual developer conference even as Google and Facebook called off their events due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Apple, however, is hosting the event online – for the first time since 1987.
The WWDC event is mainly focused on developers but Apple does make a slew of announcements for end users. Tonight, we are going to get the first preview of iOS 14, new iPadOS, and watchOS among others. There are also chances of the company introducing new hardware at the event.
Let us take a look at the top announcements Apple is likely to make tonight.
Apple-ARM: The biggest announcement at the WWDC 2020 is expected to be Apple’s landmark decision to embrace ARM-based chips for its desktops and laptops. The move will also mark Apple’s long-term partnership with Intel.
New OS: As said earlier, Apple will showcase the preview of new iteration of its iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, and watchOS. The latest versions will not be available right away for users. Instead, users will get the option to download a public beta version. The latest version of iOS is usually launched alongside the new iPhone series much later in the year.
New hardware: Apple is rumoured to launch a new iMac at the WWDC 2020 conference. The new device is likely to come with upgraded specifications and features such as T2 security chip and AMD Navi GPU. The company is likely to redesign the iMac with slimmer bezels.
