Baby Shark YouTube video has created another record! Not just by being the most watched video on YouTube, in fact, the popular children's song has now become the first YouTube video to cross 10 billion views. The catchy Baby Shark video became an overnight sensation after it was produced and uploaded on the platform in 2016 by South Korean educational entertainment company Pinkfong.

Baby Shark video's success is not just limited to YouTube, the song has been popular on all social media platforms. And why not? Perhaps, you yourself may have, at some point or another, hummed its catchy tune and sang the lyrics “Baby Shark do do, do do do do”. The song's viral status has also resulted in it being used in many meme videos, Instagram Reels and TikTok videos.

Baby Shark producer company Pinkfong announced the achievement through a tweet on its official Twitter account. The tweet said, “Today we mark history with our special milestone! ‘Baby Shark Dance' became the first video in history to hit 𝟭𝟬 𝗕𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪𝗦 on YouTube!”

Baby Shark's first mainstream fame arrived on January 12, 2019 when the song made its debut on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. The famous song recorded the 32nd position on the chart, its highest so far.

In November 2020, Baby Shark made its first YouTube record when it became the highest viewed video on the platform. The catchy song surpassed another viral sensation ‘Despacito' by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee to reach the top.

Now, on January 13, 2022 Baby Shark has made history yet again by becoming the first ever video on YouTube to cross 10 billion views. At the moment, the video sits at 10,014,036,783 views and has hit more than 32 million likes.

Curious to know the difference between Baby Shark and the second placed video? While Despacito has still held onto its position, the popular Latin pop song has around 7.7 billion views, making the difference a whopping 3.3 billion views!

Check out the other most viewed YouTube videos. At third position is “Johnny Johnny Yes Papa” by LooLoo kids at 6.1 billion views. At fourth position is Ed Sheeran's “Shape of you” at 5.5 billion views and the fifth slot is claimed by “See you again” by Wiz Khalifa at 5.3 billion views. 

An interesting thing to note is that all the top five most viewed videos on YouTube are songs, although the platform itself has a huge variety of video content.
