Facebook’s new iOS app will let new iPhone users make most of 3D touch
The new update to the app will allow latest iPhone users to take advantage of “peek and pop” 3D touch actions on profiles, web links, groups, events, pages, profile pictures, photos and cover photos
Facebook has finally updated its app on iOS to let users of iPhone 6S and 6S plus take advantage of the 3D touch available on their phones.
The new update to the app will allow latest iPhone users to take advantage of "peek and pop" 3D touch actions on profiles, web links, groups, events, pages, profile pictures, photos and cover photos, Tech Times reported.
Users can now lightly press on the screen to get a preview, or the "peek" part of the feature. If the users want to continue, the long press will activate the 'pop' feature.
Facebook, last year, had added a "quick view" shortcut, which appears when users press the app's home screen icon. This feature allows users to quickly write a post, take a photo/video, upload a photo/video or view profile.
Facebook has started rolling out the new update with a small group of users and has said that others will get it in a phased manner over the coming months.
Apple's new 3D touch technology has opened doors for developers to make some unique changes to the experience of using apps. One of the first apps that rolled out 3D Touch support is Instagram, which also brought 3D Touch functionalities to Android.
Facebook has been continuously adding new features to its iOS and Android apps. In December, it had begun testing its live streaming video feature Facebook Live Video with a small number of iOS users in the US to take on Meerkat and Periscope.
