Honor Play is set to launch in India on Monday. The latest flagship phone from Huawei's online-only brand comes with top-end specifications along with the company's trademark premium design. A major difference between Honor Play and the recent Honor phones is that it has a metal back panel instead of glass panel. Honor Play will be available online exclusively via Amazon India with sales starting at 4pm from August 6.

The smartphone comes with a larger 6.2-inch full HD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio. Running on Android 8.1 Oreo-based EMUI 8.2 layered, the phone is powered by in-house Kirin 970 processor along with GPU Turbo out-of-the-box. It has 6GB of RAM and 64GB built-in storage.
The new graphics technology is said to enhance the performance by up to 60% and improve battery efficiency by 30%. The company says the new GPU technology has been optimised for high-end games like PUBG.
As far as the Kirin 970 goes, it is Huawei's top-of-the-line chipset and is also touted as the world's first mobile processor to have built-in Artificial Intelligence-capabilities.
"Kirin 970 's NPU is trained with 100 million pictures to enable its AI Camera which can detect 22 different scenes from 500 different scenarios to adjust best camera settings for that perfect shot, the company said in a note.
Huawei says dedicated neural processing unit (NPU) consumes just 2% of the battery as compared to other chipsets capable of performing similar AI tasks.
"AI based App prioritisation makes applications open quickly as most used apps are stacked on top of priority list. AI Noise reduction improves call quality even in the most noisy environment," the company added.
For photography, Honor Play has 16-megapixel and 2-megapixel dual-camera setup on the back with PDAF. On the front it has 16-megapixel selfie camera. Other key features of the phone include fingerprint sensor, microSD support up to 256GB, and 3,750mAh battery.
