Micromax-backed YU to launch YU Ace smartphone in India today
YU will be launching a new smartphone after a year-long hiatus. YU Ace has so far been teased to come with long battery life, rear fingerprint sensor and a glossy body.
Smartphone maker YU will be making its comeback in India today. The Micromax-backed company is all set to launch a new smartphone dubbed "YU Ace" today at 1:00pm.
Micromax revived the Twitter handle of YU last week with teasers of the upcoming smartphone. The company later sent media invites for the smartphone confirming the launch. The smartphone is expected to come with long battery life as indicated by one of the teasers.
The company also put out another teaser with the picture of a phone. Going by the image, the smartphone is seen with a glossy back in a flashy blue colour. There's also a circular fingerprint sensor at the rear. The camera lens with LED flash is placed at the top left corner of the smartphone. It isn't clear if the smartphone has a dual-camera setup or a single camera.
Much isn't known and revealed about Yu Ace but it will possibly be a budget smartphone with high-end specifications going by the company's history.
The last smartphone launched by YU was Yureka 2 which is priced at ₹11,999. Yureka 2 comes with a full HD 5.5-inch display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and a 3,930mAh battery. The smartphone sports a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front snapper.
It also comes with support for quick charge, 4G VoLTE, dual SIM and houses a rear fingerprint sensor. The smartphone however runs the older Android 6.0 Marshmallow on the software front. Even after a year of the launch, Yureka 2 is still a competitor against smartphones like Lenovo K8 Note and Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.
