WhatsApp is testing a new feature for desktop beta testers allowing users to blur images directly from the chat. The Meta-owned messaging app is reportedly rolling out the new image blur tool to WhatsApp desktop beta users allowing users to blur images to blur out sensitive information. As reported by WABetaInfo, the online platform that tracks the new and upcoming features of WhatsApp, the app has brought two blur tools that will let users edit any part of the selected images by using an alternate blur effect. Users will also be allowed to choose the blur size in order to apply the effect with granular precision.

The WhatsApp image blur tool feature was first spotted in June this year, however, it is currently rolling out for some WhatsApp desktop beta users. It is likely that the new feature will be extended to mobile users in the near future. The new feature will make it more secure to share media files on WhatsApp.

A few months ago, the instant messaging app introduced new security features to offer a safer user experience. The feature included leave groups silently, hide online active status, no screenshot for View Once messages, default E2EE, encrypted Backups, disappearing Messages, block and Report as well as two-step Verification to let users message freely without compromising your privacy.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp has also released Android beta 2.22.23.15 update via Google Play Store bringing the ability to forward media with a caption. Not only images, but videos, GIFs, as well as documents can also be sent with a caption. With the new update, WhatsApp Android Beta users can see a new message box at the bottom of the media file to add a caption. That's not all, users can also remove the caption by tapping the dismiss icon within the caption view.
