Amid the news of employee layoffs on Friday at Twitter, the social media platform 's 'Days of Rest' has been removed from the calendars of the employees. It can be known that the Days of Rest refers to the monthly days off to let employees rest and recharge. A report by the New York Times informed about the same. "On Thursday, workers got other signals that their workplace was changing. Twitter's 'Days of Rest,' which are monthly days off so employees can rest and recharge, were removed from their calendars, two people with knowledge of the matter said," the report said.

It also informed that some workers also noticed that the employee directory had been taken offline, according to internal chats seen by The Times. It can be known that Twitter has undergone several changes after its acquisition by Elon Musk. Some of the major changes include the introduction of a $8 charge for the blue tick verification mark and a new work ethic that lays stress on long working hours.

Notably, Twitter will start laying off staffers in order to place the social media platform on the profitable path. Twitter will inform employees via email on Friday about whether they have been laid off, temporarily closing its offices and preventing staff access, a report by Reuters informed. It has been reported that as many as 50% staff may be shown the door.

In an email sent to the staff, Twitter said that it will alert employees by 9 a.m. Pacific time on Friday (12 p.m. EDT/1600 GMT) about staff cuts. "In an effort to place Twitter on a healthy path, we will go through the difficult process of reducing our global workforce on Friday," said the email sent on Thursday.

Twitter further said that its offices will be temporarily closed and all badge access will be suspended in order "to help ensure the safety of each employee as well as Twitter systems and customer data". Also, Twitter employees who will not be affected by the layoffs too will be notified via their work email address. While the employees who have been laid off will be notified with next steps to their personal email addresses.
