OnePlus 6 x Marvel Avengers Limited Edition to launch in India on May 17

OnePlus on Thusrday confirmed it would be launching an Avengers: Infinity War-themed OnePlus 6 smartphone. OnePlus will launch this special edition on May 17 in India, the same day as the global launch. The smartphone will be available exclusively via Amazon India.

This special edition, called OnePlus 6 x Marvel Avengers Limited Edition, stems from OnePlus' collaboration with Disney. Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War movie will be releasing in India on April 27. This is the second time OnePlus has collaborated with a film studio for a special edition smartphone.

Last year, the company released OnePlus 5T Star Wars The Last Jedi edition which features a Standstone White base with grey specks. The alert slider has a red accent highlighting the Red Star Wars logo. This edition of the smartphone also comes with themes, a special product box and case as well. Specifications remain the same. Something similar is expected for the Avengers OnePlus 6 smartphone as well.

OnePlus released a short 15-second teaser video for the announcement giving us a glimpse of the upcoming smartphone. What can be confirmed from the teaser is a textured back on the OnePlus 6 and we also get to see the much talked about notch display. OnePlus 6 will sport iPhone x-like notch display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The teaser also shows a curved display on the smartphone.

OnePlus 6 India launch

OnePlus will be launching its upcoming smartphone on May 16 in London at 12 pm EDT (9.30 pm IST). The smartphone will launch in India just the following day on May 17 with the first sale taking place on May 21 via Amazon India. Note that only Amazon Prime subscribers will be eligible for the first sale.

OnePlus 6 specifications, features

OnePlus 6 will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 processor paired with 8GB of RAM. The smartphone will also offer 256GB storage variant which is a first for the company. There could be a 6GB RAM variant of OnePlus 6 also. OnePlus has also confirmed that the smartphone will retain the 3.5mm audio jack.

According to the company's teasers, the alert slider on OnePlus 6 is expected to come with shortcuts for the camera. Another iPhone X inspiration on the OnePlus 6 could be gestures on the smartphone. Apple introduced gestures on iPhone X for functions like pulling down notifications and killing an app.

Details about rest of the specifications are based on rumours and leaks. OnePlus 6 is speculated to feature a 6.28-inch QHD+ display, and run Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. The smartphone could be fuelled by a 3,450mAh battery.
