After the success of Redmi Note 4 last year, Xiaomi has increased the frequency of its product launches in India. Just in 2018, Xiaomi has launched four new series with multiple variants, excluding the latest Poco F1 which too comes in four versions.

Including the latest Redmi 6 series, Xiaomi offers Redmi Note 5, Mi A2 and Redmi Y2. Phones under these series come in different variants and are similarly priced. For instance, the top-end model of Redmi 6 Pro (4GB of RAM and 64GB storage) is priced at 12,999 and Redmi Note 5 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage comes for 11,999. There are also very minor price differences between some models of Redmi Y2 and Note 5.

It is worth noting that each variant comes with different specifications (at least in terms of storage and RAM). The cluttered portfolio may make it difficult for you to decide the next Xiaomi phone. Here's an overview of all Xiaomi's budget phones and details about their variants. We have excluded the Poco F1 series from the list.

Redmi 6A
Redmi 6A is an upgrade over last year's Redmi 5A. Redmi 6A comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. There's another variant with 3GB+32GB which is priced at 6,999.

Both variants of Redmi 6A offer a single 13-megapixel rear camera, a 3,000mAh battery, and a Helio P22 processor. It has the common Xiaomi design with a polycarbonate body but an improved HD+ 5.45-inch 18:9 display. Xiaomi aims to give a well-packaged entry-level phone with the Redmi 5A.

Redmi 6
Redmi 6 is almost the same as Redmi 6A but has an edge over it with a dual-camera setup. It features a 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel dual AI cameras. Another difference is the Helio P22 processor powering the Redmi 6.

Redmi 6 is also priced slightly higher with a starting price of 7,999 for the 3GB+32GB variant. The smartphone also comes with 64GB of onboard storage which will be available at 9,499.

Redmi 6 Pro
Redmi 6 Pro is the most unique one of the lot. Redmi 6 Pro is the only Xiaomi smartphone in India with a notch on its 5.84-inch Full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19:9. It has the same dual cameras as Redmi 6 but with Sony IMX 486 sensor and Samsung sensor. It also comes with Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) for video recording.

Under the hood of the phone runs Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, the same SoC powering Redmi Note 5. Performance wise, you could expect the same results as the Redmi Note 5. But the experience will be different with a notch display and dual rear cameras.

Pricing is a little higher than the Redmi Note 5 with the base model (3GB+32GB) priced at 10,999. Redmi 6 Pro with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage carries a price tag of 12,999.

Redmi Y2
Xiaomi introduced its budget selfie smartphone series last year with the Redmi Y2. The upgrade, Redmi Y2 launched this year at 9,999 for 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant. The 4GB RAM plus 64GB variant is priced at 12,999.

For selfies, Redmi Y2 has a 16-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture, portrait mode and selfie-light. The design of Redmi Y2 is slightly different from the other Redmi phones. It has a taller 5.99-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone also has two antenna lines running across the top and bottom part of the back panel. Its design resembles the Redmi Note 5 Pro.

Redmi Note 5
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 launched at the start of this year being the company's first smartphone with an 18:9 display in India. Xiaomi's Redmi Note series has proved to be the top budget smartphone even after more than half a year of its launch.

The company offers a well-packaged budget phone with the Redmi Note 5. It comes with a Snapdragon 625 SoC, 4,000mAh battery, and a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display. Redmi Note 5 is priced at 9,999 for the 3GB+32GB model, and 11,999 for the 4GB+64GB variant.

Redmi Note 5 Pro
Redmi Note 5 Pro is the company's most expensive of the series with a starting price of 14,999. The base version comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. The smartphone is a high-end version of Redmi Note 5 with a better camera, processor and bigger RAM. Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with a Snapdragon 636 processor, dual 12MP + 5MP cameras, and 6GB+64GB configuration. The top-end model is priced at 16,999.
