Reliance Jio subscriber base reaches 186.6 million

Reliance Jio reported video consumption on its network stood over 240 crore hours per month whereas the total voice traffic during the quarter was 37,218 crore minutes.

Reliance Jio on Friday announced that its user base in India has reached 186.6 million. The telecom operator added more than 25 million subscribers in the fourth quarter of FY 2017-18. The subscriber base of Jio had gone past 160 million in December last year.

Reliance Jio's Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) stood at 137.1 a month. It pegged its standalone revenue from operations at 7,128 crore (3.6% QoQ growth) and net profit of 510 crore, said the company in its latest earnings report.

Jio also reported that video consumption on its network stood over 240 crore hours per month whereas the total voice traffic during the quarter was 37,218 crore minutes. The operator also reported that the total wireless data traffic during the quarter was 506 crore GB.

In its latest earnings report, Jio pegged the average data consumption per user per month at 9.7 GB. The average voice consumption was 716 minutes per user per month.

The report further states that Reliance Jio is currently the world's largest VoLTE network with the most mobile data consumption. At present, Reliance Jio is the only operator to offer full-fledged 4G VoLTE network in the country. Airtel is testing its 4G VoLTE services in beta, and the commercial rollout is expected to happen soon.

"The strong financial results of Jio in a competitive market environment demonstrates the robustness of the Jio business model and ability to offer the most value to our customers and partners. Jio has demonstrated that it can scale and sustain its strong financial performance," Ambani further added.
