Shazam will soon be available as App Clip on iPhones
Apple is testing Shazam's built-in music recognition tool as an App Clip in iOS 14.6.
Apple is going to make it easier to recognise songs using Shazam. In iOS 14.2, Apple integrated Shazam in the iPhone's Control Center so users can easily access the song finding tool. It is now testing Shazam as an App Clip in iOS 14.6. App Clips offer users an experience of the app without having to download the full version.
At present, tapping on the Shazam icon from the iPhone's Control Center takes you to a website. With the new App Clip, Shazam will now appear as a native app on the iPhone, 9to5Mac reported. The Shazam App Clip on iOS 14.6 shows the song details, access to lyrics, play it on Apple Music, and also an option to share the song to other apps. Apple also shows an option to download the full version of Shazam from the App Clip itself.
Shazam as an app is available, and users can download it on their iPhones. But with the Shazam tool in the iPhone's Control Center, Apple gave users an easier way to find and discover songs. With Shazam as an App Clip, the experience will be more intuitive and definitely more appealing visually. The App Clip makes it possible to use all the important features of Shazam without having to download it. If you're subscribed to Apple Music it's even better as the songs you Shazam are automatically added to your library.
This feature is currently in testing in the beta version of iOS 14.6 that's available only to developers and beta testers. There's no word on when Apple will release iOS 14.6 to the public but it's expected to happen soon.
