This week in technology can be described as a mixed bag of events. There were product launches, a security goof up, YouTube battle and also some big news for gaming.

Xiaomi launched yet another smartphone, and this time the company made its Android Go debut. The next day Google announced its gaming streaming service called "Stadia". Apple quietly launched its second-generation AirPods, two years after the first product. Finally, the ongoing YouTube battle between PewDiePie and T-series stretched throughout the week with wins and losses.

Redmi Go launch

Redmi Go is Xiaomi's first Android Go smartphone. Priced at 4,499, Redmi Go comes with a 5-inch HD display, Snapdragon 425 SoC, a 3,000mAh battery and runs Android Oreo (Go edition). The smartphone also offers some India-centric features such as support for over 20 regional languages and Google Assistant in Hindi.

Google Stadia

At its Gaming Developers Conference keynote, Google took the wraps off its ambitious gaming service, Stadia. Based on cloud, Google Stadia will let users stream games on their phones, laptops, TVs without the need for expensive consoles or gaming PCs. Google Stadia will be available through YouTube where users will be able to press play directly from a game trailer.

Apple AirPods 2

Apple finally launched its updated AirPods with a new wireless charging case. AirPods 2 is priced at 14,900 with the normal charging case. Users in India can get the AirPods 2 with the wireless charging case at 18,900. Separately, the wireless charging case will be available at 7,500.

Facebook storing passwords

Facebook revealed yet another security lapse from the social media giant's end. Facebook discovered that millions of user passwords were exposed in plain text format on the company's internal servers. The security issue has now been fixed and Facebook will alert users who were affected. It also advised all users to change their Facebook and Instagram passwords immediately.

PewDiePie vs T-Series

The internet's most popular and very long running battle between PewDiePie and T-Series saw some interesting changes this week. T-Series managed to pass PewDiePie multiple times and once even maintained a gap of over 30,000 subscribers. While PewDiePie managed to get back on the top spot, it also created possibly the biggest threat for the Swedish YouTuber.
