1/5 Why does WhatsApp compress pictures while sharing it? This happens because in the Settings of the application the photo upload quality is set on auto by default, and therefore, the quality of the image while sharing depends on several factors like the internet connection, size of the image, and more. The app therefore, looks to downsize the image, which affects its quality. (PTI)

WhatsApp is gearing up to release a feature that'll let you ‘mute' calls! Since its launch in November 2009, WhatsApp has grown by leaps and bounds. The instant messaging service is used widely by millions around the world. To keep users from switching to alternative apps, WhatsApp regularly rolls out constant updates and new features such as disappearing messages, voice and video calls. Now, more WhatsApp new features can be enjoyed and many more are coming soon. A recent report has revealed that the messaging service could soon introduce a Do Not Disturb mode for missed calls.

According to a recent report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has rolled out the ‘Do Not Disturb' feature through an update for WhatsApp Beta users. The feature is being rolled out in the WhatsApp update version 2.22.24.17. Beta users can check if they have received this update within WhatsApp Settings where a new option named ‘Silenced by Do Not Disturb' will pop up. When turned on, the caller would remain unaware of the fact that the call was missed due to the ‘Do Not Disturb' mode.

The update has been rolled out starting today and will slowly be available to all the Beta users. This feature was previously spotted in the WhatsApp beta update 2.22.21.7 which was released on September 24. WABetaInfo had revealed that WhatsApp was working on supporting the do not disturb API for missed calls.

WABetaInfo also posted a screenshot showing the feature and explained,” As you can see in this screenshot, it is easy to discover if the feature is already available for your account: just enable do not disturb mode right within your phone settings and ask a friend to call you for some seconds.”

Other upcoming WhatsApp features

WhatsApp is working on a plethora of exciting features that are due to arrive in future updates. WABetaInfo also revealed in a report today that WhatsApp is bringing polls to WhatsApp desktop. The feature is already present in the iOS and Android versions of the messaging service but has not been introduced to the Desktop version. Another feature that is in the works is a call tab for WhatsApp Desktop.

All these updates are due to arrive soon so keep updating your WhatsApp app to the latest version to enjoy all the new features!
