Windows 11 users got a mysterious new taskbar! Worried?
The latest Windows 11 update has rolled out a redesign to the taskbar. Or has it? Is it coming to your laptops?
Microsoft Windows 11 hit the laptops and desktop systems back in November 2021 with a slew of fascinating new features for Windows users. Since then several updates have been rolled out and they have made the experience even better, while at the same time eliminating the early bugs. Notably, rounded corners were the first noticeable change in Microsoft's product. The company had earlier confirmed that rounded corners will be part of all upcoming major designs. However, there is still room for improvement because of the lack of design consistency.
But in the latest Windows 11 Build 25174 which is available for download in the Development channel, a mysterious new taskbar featuring rounded corners or edges was spotted, a Windows Latest report revealed. It suggested that Microsoft might be testing a new taskbar with rounded corners on both edges.
Additionally, a floating taskbar also seemed to be part of the next revamp by Microsoft. Here, the floating taskbar shows a small gap between the taskbar and the sides due to the rounded corners of the icons.
Windows 11 to get this new taskbar design?
According to the report, the rounded corners design of the taskbar in Windows 11 may be a bug. "Ungrouping of taskbar icons is still not possible. Likewise, Microsoft has confirmed it won't update the taskbar with the ability to change its location," report mentioned.
However, a Senior Program Manager on the Windows Insider Program Team, Brandon LeBlanc confirmed in a tweet that it seems to be a bug instead of the official rollout of the feature. He says, “This looks like a bug. There are a few bugs like this that change the UI in various ways. It's not something we're doing any A/B testing on.”
