Xiaomi’s upcoming Redmi smartphone is highly expected to be Redmi Y2.
Xiaomi will launch a new selfie-focused smartphone in India on June 7. Amazon's teasers give away quite a few details about the new phone. The highlight of the phone will be its 16-megapixel selfie camera along with an LED selfie light.

Xiaomi's selfie smartphone Redmi Y1 made its India debut last year.
The smartphone was first launched in China as Redmi S1 which was later rebranded for the Indian market. Xiaomi launched Redmi S2, successor to Redmi S1 in China last month. Going by this pattern, Xiaomi will possibly launch Redmi S2 in India as 'Redmi Y2' on June 7.
Xiaomi Redmi S2 (Redmi Y2) specifications
Details gathered by Xiaomi's teasers are similar to Redmi S2 which further supports the claim. Xiaomi Redmi S2 features a 5.99-inch HD+ LCD display. Under the hood of the smartphone runs Qualcomm's mid-range Snapdragon 625 processor. Redmi S2 comes in two variants of 3GB RAM plus 32GB storage and 4GB RAM plus 64GB storage.
Redmi S2 also sports a 16-megapixel selfie camera which comes with AI-powered beautification features. There's a dual-camera setup at the rear which comprises of a 12-megapixel and a 5-megapixel sensor.
On the software front, Redmi S2 runs Android Oreo based MIUI 9.5. Xiaomi's popular budget smartphones still run on the older Android Nougat OS. It would be refreshing to see this phone launch with Android Oreo out-of-the-box. Keeping the smartphone ticking is a 3,080mAh battery.
