Xiaomi reportedly working on a 120W charger
Xiaomi's upcoming 120W fast charger also supports 15W and 27W configurations.
Xiaomi had launched a 100W fast charging technology last year. Now, word is that the company is planning to take its fast charging tech a step further by introducing a 120W charger.
The news comes as a courtesy of a leaked video, which gives us a glimpse of the company's upcoming 120W charger. The video shows that Xiaomi's 120W charger comes with the model number MDY-12-ED and it supports a maximum output of 120W that corresponds to a voltage of 20V and a current of 6A.
Apart from the 120W configuration, the charger also supports a 15W configuration that corresponds to a voltage of 5V and a current of 3A, and a 27W configuration that corresponds to a voltage of 9V and a current of 3A.
It is worth noting that Xiaomi's 100W charger could fully charge a phone with a 4,000mAh battery in just 17 minutes. Its upcoming 120W charger is expected to be even faster. However, some reports hint that the company is unlikely to use the 120W charger for powering smartphones. Instead it could be used for charging bigger devices such as a laptop. That said, this report should be taken with a pinch of salt as Xiaomi is yet to confirm the details of the charger yet.
