Pension Slip on Whatsapp Account: WhatsApp is getting inextricably linked with almost all activities of users and now, one more has been added by a government order.

You just won't be able to do without WhatsApp, in short. The latest update heading towards WhatsApp and into your smartphone concerns money - pensions, actually. The wheels of government have been set in motion to deliver pension slips to pensioners via WhatsApp. So, far restricted to just SMS and email, pension slips are going to be sent via WhatsApp by the concerned department - it is definitely more easier to access than email, and no one really uses SMS anymore. Since most people use WhatsApp in any case, that is where they will get this service.

This is happening at the urging of the Centre, which has ordered banks to use social media apps like WhatsApp alongside SMS and email informing pensioners that their pension has been credited into their account. The Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare order says, “Banks may also use social media apps WhatsApp etc in addition to SMS and email”.

The government order added, “Accordingly, all pension disbursing banks should issue pension slip to pensioners after credit of pension on their registered mobile numbers through SMS and email (wherever available) also”.

Pensioners need the breakup of the monthly pension in connection with Income Tax payment, Dearness Relief payments and DR arrears among others, the order said.

The pension slip should provide the complete detail of the monthly pension paid along with break-up of the amount credited and tax deductions etc. if any, it concluded.

So, as far as pensioners are concerned, this is definitely a very important feature that will ensure they keep a close watch on their WhatsApp accounts, apart, of course, from chatting with family and friends.
