Apple launched its first-ever headphones AirPods Max last month. The AirPods Max is one unique pair of headphones, and also carries a hefty price tag of $549 ( 40,300 approx). Apple is now rumoured to be working on a more affordable version of the AirPods Max.

According to tipster LeaksApplePro, Apple is working on a “cheap” AirPods Max that will be priced at $349 ( 25,600 approx). The cheaper version of Apple's headphones will be made out of plastic as opposed to aluminum and stainless steel that it uses for the AirPods Max. This is expected to be the biggest compromise for an affordable offering of the AirPods Max as Apple is expected to retain the same sound quality.

With this pricing, the affordable AirPods Max will compete with the likes of Bose QC 35 II and Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones. Right now the AirPods Max are in a league of their own. There's still very little we're hearing about a cheaper AirPods Max so it's best to keep our expectations low.

The AirPods Max come with features such as Adaptive EQ, Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency mode and spatial audio. The headphones have an Apple Watch-like digital crown for volume control, music playback control and answer or end calls. The AirPods Max has an automated low power mode that it enters when left stationary as there's no power button to turn it off. You can read more about its power saving mode here.

The AirPods Max comes in five colour options of Space Gray, Silver, Sky Blue, Green, and Pink, and is available in India at an even costlier price of 59,900.
