Many MacBook Pro and MacBook Air users have taken it to multiple forums to complain about facing issues with USB 2.0.

According to some users, the issue occurs when they connect their laptop with USB 2.0 accessories through a hub or adapter. The problem appears to have affected Apple's new 13-inch 2020 models of MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.

MacRumours reports users have posted similar complaints on its forums.

Apart from erratic connectivity, users have also reported freezing issues when using USB 2.0 accessories via a hub. The website pointed out that there is no definite pattern for the issue, making it more difficult to pinpoint the precise problem. It further said that the issue is not limited to one particular brand of hub accessories.

“When I use an external USB-C hub in any port of my MBP, and connect USB 2.0 devices that include a Filco keyboard and a Razer DeathAdder mouse... after a while (minute or hours) the USB 2.0 devices will stop responding (keyboard dead, mouse not moving or clicking),” wrote a user on Reddit earlier this month.

The Reddit user seems to have figured out a workaround as well. The user used a Thunderbolt CalDigit hub to resolve the problem.

Affected users, in the meanwhile, have already gotten in touch with Apple. We can expect the company to release a fix very soon.
