Asus has announced the launch date for its next ROG smartphone. What was supposed to be ROG Phone 4 is now launching as ROG Phone 5 as the company is skipping the number 4 due to its Chinese pronunciation being similar to the word “death.”

Asus ROG Phone 5 will launch on March 5. The launch time is scheduled for 7:00 pm in Taipei which is 4:30 pm IST for viewers in India. Asus will most likely host a virtual launch event to unveil the new smartphone. The company also has a countdown timer started for the launch, and an option to add the event to the calendar.

Asus is also tipped to launch the ROG Phone 5 in India next month. This comes from tipster Mukul Sharma who assures that the phone will make its way to the country next month if there are no last minute changes. There’s no official confirmation on the same though.
