- The report also reveals that the Pixel 6 Pro’s display will feature a resolution of 1,440x3,120 pixels and 120Hz refresh rate.
While some of the most important flagships have already been announced this year - including the Samsung Galaxy Z foldables and iPhone 13 series - Google is still to launch its Pixel 6 lineup. The upcoming smartphones will mark Google's entry in the premium smartphone space after years of missing out. The company is prepping to launch two smartphones, the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro. The devices are expected to launch next month. Ahead of the launch, a fresh leak has revealed major tidbits about the Pixel 6 Pro.
According to a report from XDA Developers, its editor-in-chief Mishaal Rahmaan reportedly sourced a bunch of details about the upcoming Pixel 6 Pro. As per the report, the Pixel 6 Pro won't have support for Active Edge. For reference, the feature was found on various previous Pixel devices. It allows you to squeeze the sides of the phone to trigger the Google Assistant. Unfortunately, it won't be a part of the feature list of the Pixel 6 Pro. However, the smartphone will support Quick Tap. It is essentially a new feature that requires users to double tap the rear of the handset to activate the voice assistant. Moreover, the smartphone is tipped to have support for reverse wireless charging with ‘Battery Share.'
The report also reveals that the Pixel 6 Pro's display will feature a resolution of 1,440x3,120 pixels and 120Hz refresh rate. However, we don't know yet if the refresh rate will be variable or not. The upcoming premium smartphone could come preinstalled with a digital car key application. It will let users unlock their car with their smartphone using NFC or ultra-wideband support (UWB). For the unaware, UWB is a short-range wireless communication protocol that enables tracking the location of nearby objects. Moreover, the device will pack 5G alongside 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and at least one variant with 128GB of storage. As for the under the hood information, Pixel 6 Pro's GPU is expected to be Mali-G78, clocked at up to 848MHz.
Coming to the optics, the Google Pixel 6 Pro is touted to sport a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP Samsung GN1 sensor, a 12MP Sony IMX386 ultra-wide sensor and a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor. It is tipped to support 4x optical zoom and have a feature called ‘baby mode.' On the front, you might get a 12MP Sony IMX663 selfie shooter. The Pixel 6 Pro is reported to pack a 5,000mAh battery. It is likely to feature an under-display fingerprint scanner.
