New foldable smartphones coming - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, Z Flip 3 launch likely on August 3

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 could land as early as August 3, according to a new report, with the company reportedly looking to sell as many as 7 million units of the upcoming devices.

Some smartphones are eye-ball grabbers and the tech that has made them possible is truly mind-blowing. However, their price is a pain point that not everyone can rise above. Having said that, it is always thrilling to watch new tech being rolled out and Samsung is about to that very soon. Yes, Samsung fans awaiting the launch of its highly anticipated foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 may finally, have some good news. Samsung's yet unannounced smartphones, which were rumoured to launch in August, have reportedly entered mass production, according to a new report from a tipster.

We have previously reported on leaks that have suggested that Samsung could hold a Galaxy Unpacked event later this year, with a launch expected on August 27. While Samsung is yet to officially announce the dates for the launch of these devices, a recent report by tipster Jon Prosser on FrontPageTech suggests that the launch event could be held on August 3.

According to Prosser, the South Korean tech giant has started mass production of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Galaxy Fold 3. However, he adds that the company is ordering a far greater amount of units for these devices per day, calling it a “staggering” 50,000 - 70,000 units. Previous reports have estimated that Samsung is looking to ship three million Galaxy Z Fold 3 units this year, as well as four million units of the rumoured Samsung Galaxy Flip 3.

These numbers seem to line up with Prosser's information, which is why the tipster seems to think the company has kick-started production earlier this year to manufacture the increased number of units over the 1-2 million that were manufactured for the company's older foldable models. However, keeping in mind the spending ability of users during the pandemic, it remains to be seen how many units Samsung actually manages to ship this year.

On the specifications front, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to pack Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 888 processor, as well as a camera located under the display. However, none of these specs are confirmed at the moment and they are only based on speculation, leaks and regulatory filings, or based on renders of the leaked devices. It is widely believed that Samsung will make improvements to the screen sizes on both the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 this year.
