Google Messages app update: In a bid to make the entire process less manually intensive, Google is looking to make things simpler on its messaging app, but only in India. Since there are many occasions when your inbox gets clogged, Google does not want to add to your problems of having to clean it up. Google said, as there are so many messages hitting your inbox all the time, "...it can be difficult to separate the important ones from everything else. To help you easily manage your messages, today we have two new updates to the Messages app to share."

These changes will be applicable on Android and it will happen soon - "over the next few weeks", Google added.

Google is all set to delete one-time passwords (OTPs) in your Google Messages inbox. Google says it will happen automatically. That this is a big problem is clear from the fact that fearing hackers, smartphone users are increasingly turning to safer methods and that includes getting OTPs even for various sign ins. Google Messages will delete these 6-digit codes within 24 hours as they are useless after a few minutes of being sent.

However, the Google Messenger update is not limited to just that. It will also allow you to sort your messages into categories, allowing you to separate your personal messages from public notifications about special offers. This will happen through a machine learning process that can successfully tell the difference between personal messages, OTPs, offers and more.

Google said, "That means, bank transactions and bills will be filtered into the transactions tab, while conversations with saved numbers can be easily located in the personal tab. All of this happens safely on your device so your conversations stay in the app and you can access your categorized messages offline."

However, you will get access to these new features only after you update your Messages app to the latest version or download the app.
