Realme launches new smartphone; CEO says flagship features on offer for budget-minded young consumers

A great smartphone at a price that does not tear a hole in your pocket? Well, everyone wants that kind of a phone with a premium feel and top features that can be flaunted. Well, Realme has launched its highly anticipated flagship smartphone, the Realme GT, globally on Tuesday. The smartphone made its debut in China back in March this year. So, does it stand up to that description? Read on.
What is in it for the customer? In a statement, Realme CEO Sky Li said, “By offering the maximum number of flagship features for our budget-minded consumers, the global launch of the Realme GT reflects our ongoing commitment to making cutting-edge technology more accessible to young consumers around the world and hence empowering them in their daily lives”.
Realme GT 5G price and availability
The Realme GT is available for purchase in select countries, including Poland, Spain, Russia, and Thailand in Dashing Silver, Dashing Blue and Racing Yellow colour variants. It comes in two variants. The variant with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage space costs 599 Euros ( ₹53,290 approx.), while the variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space costs 369 Euros ( ₹32,829 approx.) on AliExpress. The Realme GT will be available with an early-bird discount of 499 Euros ( ₹44,394 approx.) for the 12GB+256GB variant to all consumers during Amazon Prime Day from 21 June.
The Realme GT 5G is not coming to India yet, but the company has said that it will make the phone available in more countries soon.
Realme GT 5G specs
The Realme GT 5G comes with a 6.43-inch super AMOLED full-screen display with a screen refresh rate of 120Hz, touch sampling rate of 360Hz, resolution of 2400x1080pixels and 4096 levels of auto-brightness. It is 8.5mm thin and weighs just 186g.
It comes in two design variants. The glass version comes in two colours, which includes Dashing Silver and Dashing Blue. This version comes with a series of shooting arrow patterns on the back of the smartphone. The second version is the vegan leather edition, which is available in Racing Yellow colour variant.
Realme GT processor
The Realme GT is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor that is coupled with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage space. Realme says that the chip has increased the phone’s CPU performance by 20% while reducing the power consumption by 50% compared with the previous generation.

On the software front, the Realme GT features support for Android 12 Beta 1. Realme says that it will continue its Android 12 Developer Preview Program to compile users’ feedback before launching the new Realme UI later this year.
The Realme GT 5G also comes with a special GT Mode that offers full-scene high-performance mode coverage, high-frame-rate gaming optimisation, and a stable gaming experience for the users.
Realme GT camera
On the camera front, the Realme GT 5G comes with a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 64MP primary lens with a Sony IMX682 sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro lens. On the front, the Realme GT 5G has a 16MP wide-angle sensor.
Realme GT 5G battery and connectivity
The Realme GT is backed by a 4,500 mAh battery with support for 65W SuperDart charging technology. Realme says that the phone can be fully charged in just 35 minutes.
In addition to this, the Realme GT 5G comes with a stainless steel VC cooling system, which according to the company increased cooling power by 50% compared with a traditional copper VC cooling system while gaming. On the connectivity front, the Realme GT 5G comes with 5G support, WiFi 5GHz, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC. It also comes with Dolby Atmos Dual Stereo speakers, Hi-Res audio, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
