Amazon Prime will be more expensive after December 13. A few months ago, Amazon announced that it is going to hike the price of the Prime subscription in India. Whether you buy the monthly subscription or the annual plan, prices are going to increase across the board. Amazon has not yet stated any reason behind the hike.

If you subscribe to Amazon's Prime membership in India regularly, now might be the right time to get another subscription. The Prime subscriptions prices will be hiked after December 13, which means you have less than 3 days since this article is published. The Amazon Prime subscription includes membership to several Prime services such as Prime Video, Prime shopping benefits and Prime Music.

Amazon Prime new prices

Ahead of the Prime price hike, this is what the current plans cost:

-The one month subscription costs 129 per month.

-The quarterly price costs 329 per quarter.

-The annual plan costs 999 per year.

After December 13, this is what these plans will cost from now:

-The monthly plan will now cost 179 per month.

-The quarterly plan costs 459 per quarter.

-The annual plan will now carry a price tag of 1,499.

For those towards the end of their Prime membership, it would be a nice idea to buy the membership to save some costs. Those who still have a lot of their membership validity left will automatically be charged the new amount when they make the next recharge/top-up.

How to get Prime at existing lower price

- Head over to Amazon.in and log into your Amazon account.

- You shall see a top countdown banner, or ads asking you get the subscription before it goes up.

- Click on any of these links and you will be directed to the steps to choose your next Prime subscription plan.

- Your cart will add the 999 per year plan. Proceed to buy it.

- Once you do so, the new plan will automatically be applied over the older plan.

Although Amazon does not reveal the exact reason to hike the prices, this is what it had to say, “Since the launch 5 years ago in India, Prime has continued to increase the value it offers members. Prime provides an unparalleled combination of shopping, savings and entertainment benefits to make life more convenient and entertaining every single day, and we continue to invest in making Prime even more valuable for customer."
