Apple is expected to launch a new MacBook Air at the WWDC 2022 event, but not MacBook Pro. Here is what Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has to say.

What are your expectations from the Apple WWDC 2022 event- new features or products? Well, as per reports, Apple is expected to make several announcements related to the company's new software products. However, what needs to be noted is that Apple has not made any official confirmation yet. And as per the latest information, Apple MacBook Pro might not launch at WWDC 2022. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has given an update regarding the same.

Gurman, in Bloomberg's newsletter has said that he expects the M2 MacBook Air to launch at the Apple WWDC 2022 event. "There's even the possibility of a new MacBook Air on Monday. Apple had planned to launch the new laptop at this year's conference, but the much-discussed Covid-related lockdowns in China led to shutdowns of factories that make MacBooks, leading to potential delays. If the new Air is indeed announced at the conference, I'd expect shortages or a non-immediate release date," the newsletter stated.

While speaking on MacBook Pro he said, "A faster 13-inch MacBook Pro had also been planned to launch around the same time as the new Air, but those same lockdowns in China could have thrown off that part of the roadmap as well. When that machine does launch, expect it to look the same as the current 13-inch MacBook Pro from 2020 sans the Touch Bar."

Gurman also gave certain details regarding the MacBook Air M2 specifications and features and said that the MacBook Air M2 will have a 13-inch display and can come in colours like Space Grey, Silver, Gold and even dark blue.

"The new Air will be the biggest revamp to the device in over a decade, bringing in a new design not dissimilar to the latest MacBook Pros and new colors (including a dark blue and a champagne-like gold in addition to space gray and silver). You can expect a 13-inch display, a pair of USB-C ports, MagSafe charging, Touch ID, no Touch Bar and the possibility of a notch to match its pricier cousin," he said.

Apart from these, Gurman had also earlier stated that the WWDC 22 event is expected to bring announcements related to iOS 16, iPadOS 16, update to macOS, watchOS, and much more. He said that Apple may bring updates to the Health App, notification panel, and enhancements for the lock screen which will include wallpapers that have widget-like capabilities.

Also more social network-like functionality is being expected in Messages, particularly around audio messages. Further, it is expected that the Apple TV operating system, tvOS, will get more smart-home tie-ins, while the Mac will get some redesigned apps.

It can be noted that the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2022 event will start at 10:30PM IST and will be livestreamed on several platforms including Apple's official website (apple.com), Apple's YouTube channel, and Apple TV.
