Optiemus Infracom launched two new BlackBerry smartphones in India today. BlackBerry's latest Android smartphones, Evolve X and Evolve offer specifications and features in line with trending smartphones. BlackBerry has also equipped both phones with privacy and security features.
BlackBerry Evolve, the base model will possibly face competition from smartphones priced in the mid-budget category. Taking specifications, features and price into consideration, here's a comparison between BlackBerry Evolve and Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Design and display
BlackBerry Evolve and Redmi Note 5 Pro differ quite distinctly in terms of design. Redmi Note 5 Pro has a metal body with curved edges. BlackBerry Evolve on the other hand has curved edges on the bottom with a textured back panel.
The dual cameras on Evolve are placed at the centre with a square-shape fingerprint sensor below. Redmi Note 5 Pro houses its dual-camera setup at the top left corner much like Apple's iPhone X. Both phones feature a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio.
Processor, RAM and storage
BlackBerry Evolve has an older Snapdragon 450 processor running under its hood. Redmi Note 5 Pro, on the other hand is powered by Snapdragon 660 SoC. Evolve is offered in only model with 4GB RAM and 64GB expandable storage. Redmi Note 5 Pro also has the same storage configurations but with more options. Camera
BlackBerry Evolve features a pair of 13-megapixel sensors at the rear with autofocus, dual tone LED flash, and HDR. Up front there's a 16-megapixel wide-angle camera with fixed focus and selfie flash.
Redmi Note 5 Pro also has a dual-camera setup of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors with f/2.2 and f/2.0 apertures respectively. The dual cameras work together to achieve depth of field effect in photos. For selfies, the smartphone has a 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 sensor with Beautify 4.0, and 'Portrait Mode'.
Battery and OS
Both phones are quite at par with each other in terms of battery capacity. BlackBerry Evolve is fuelled by a 4,000mAh battery with quick charge. Redmi Note 5 Pro also packs a 4,000mAh battery along with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0.
Pricing and availability
BlackBerry Evolve as said earlier has a hefty price tag of ₹24,990 in comparison to its peers. The smartphone will be available exclusively via Amazon India from mid-September. Redmi Note 5 Pro starts at ₹13,999 for the base model, and ₹16,999 for the top-end variant.
