Build 2018: ‘Your Phone’ lets you mirror your smartphone on a Windows 10 PC

Microsoft will first test its ‘Your Phone’ feature with Windows 10 Insiders this week.

Microsoft at Build 2018 announced a new 'Your Phone' app for Windows 10. Your Phone app will allow Android and iOS users mirror their smartphones on a bigger device like a Windows 10 PC.

With Your Phone app, users will be able to mirror content from their smartphones like photos, SMS, and notifications on a Windows 10 PC. Users will also be able to access notifications on their PC itself thereby eliminating the need to check one's smartphone. At the same time users will also be able to respond to messages from the PC itself.

Microsoft's Your Phone app will also allow users to drag and drop files from their smartphones to the PC. Microsoft's Your Phone app will be rolling out first to Windows 10 Insiders this week, Venture Beat reports. Mirroring features for iOS and Android will vary with the latter having more access.

For Android, the company also announced Timeline support on Microsoft Launcher. With this integration Microsoft Launcher will now support cross-device application launching. For example, if you're working on a Word document on your desktop the same will be updated on Timeline. Users can then start working on the same document through Microsoft Word app on their Android smartphone.

iOS users, on the other hand will get this Timeline feature on Microsoft Edge browser. iOS users will be able to access their files through the Edge browser available on App Store. At present users can see their Edge browsing history from their iOS devices in Timeline on a Windows 10 PC.
