Facebook, on late Wednesday evening, announced that it was making major changes to its Pages experience. The changes include a redesigned layout, a dedicated News Feed and actionable insights among other things. Facebook said that it will roll out the new Pages experience to all Pages in the upcoming months.

As far as the specifics are concerned, Facebook has redesigned the entire Pages segment. The company says that the Pages experience has been designed such that users are able to spot bios, posts and other important details easily.

The company has also brought its News Feed to Pages. Now users will be able to discover and join conversations, follow trends, interact with peers and engage with fans using Pages. The dedicated News Feed will also suggest new connections such as public figures, Pages, Groups and trending content that a Page or public figure cares about. Additionally, the company said that to make Page conversations more visible to a wider audience comments from public figures will be bumped to the top of the comments section. People will also be able to follow Pages directly from comments and recommendations posts.

In addition to these changes, Facebook is also introducing Q&A format along with new Page management features such as the ability to assign and manage admin access permissions based on specific tasks among others to Pages.

Apart from this, the company has also improved its security features. Facebook said that it has improved its ability to detect activity that isn't allowed on its platform including hate speech, violent, sexual or spammy content and impersonation. “We are continuing to expand the visibility of a verified badge to make it easier to identify posts and comments from authentic Pages and profiles. A verified Page's comment on another Page's public post, may appear higher in the comments section and be visible in News Feed,” the company said.

However, the biggest and the most important change that is coming to Facebook Pages is the removal of the Likes button. This is being done to simplify the way people connect with their favourite Pages. “Unlike Likes, Followers of a Page represent the people who can receive updates from Pages, which helps give public figures a stronger indication of their fan base,” the company explained.
