A unique concept, as far as music gigs go, is being launched in the city today. Hungama website Artistaloud.com, on which many independent artistes release their own music, have launched a live web concert, or 'web-cert' series, which is aimed at providing the ultimate in private concert viewing to audiences.

The concert will not be performed for live audiences, but exclusively for those watching in the comfort of their home or office, thereby taking digital media to another level. An important idea behind this initiative is the drive to
eradicate piracy from the digital music domain.

Unique platform
This monthly series of live concerts will see the likes of well-known Indian artistes like Parikrama, Sona Mohapatra, Euphoria and many more, performing 'live'. The series will kickstart from 4 pm onwards today on artistaloud.com with singer-songwriter Shibani Kashyap and Naksha-Sargam, an indi-pop duo.

"It's a great initiative. It gives singers and performers a different platform to reach out to the widest audience possible, introducing to them the sheer magic of live music," says Mohapatra, who has released music online in the past as well.

"Also, it showcases great performers who may not have a lot of studio material behind them", she adds.

Composers Nakash and Sargam, tied up with the website from its very inception, more than a year back. "We were sure it is the future of music and entertainment", say the duo.

Showcasing talent
With 'Musicman' Mihir Joshi hosting the concerts, and live performances being beamed to fans all over India, the audience gets to experience the same rush of adrenaline they would feel at an actual concert, the only difference being, that they will be watching it from their computers.

Organiser Soumani Paul alerts fans about upcoming acts, stating that she is keenly looking forward to showcase the talents of 21-year-old Rishab Srivastav, who she says is a better singer than Atif Aslam.

On the live web concerts series, she comments, "This will give music a new definition."
