Netflix will now automatically download recommended shows, movies for you
Netflix is rolling out the feature ‘Downloads For You’ on Android globally starting today.
Netflix today launched a new feature called “Downloads For You.” This feature will automatically download recommended shows or movies based on your tastes. Netflix is rolling this out on Android globally starting today, and it will soon start testing it on iOS.
Netflix's Downloads For You feature is aptly named, and it also comes with customisable options for users. The feature itself is optional as it should be, and users can turn it on/off from the Smart Downloads menu. Also, downloading happens only when your device is on a Wi-Fi connection. There's also an option to allocate storage for these automatic downloads, and different storage can be set for each profile on the same Netflix account.
For example, setting a storage of 3GB equals to around 12 hours of movies and shows. Netflix displays a bar below to show how much storage has been used, and how much is available. Netflix is giving users the option of setting a storage limit of 1GB, 3GB or 5GB.
How to turn on Downloads For You
Open the Downloads tab on your device, and toggle on Downloads For You.
Select the amount of content you want downloaded to your device, and then select ‘Turn On'.
You can also find the shows or movies that are being downloaded under Smart Downloads itself. Speaking of which, this feature is a part of Smart Downloads that automatically deletes and downloads the next episode of the series. Netflix users on Android should start seeing the feature today but iOS users will have to wait for it to roll out.
